The small details from curled fingers, to scrunched up toes and more, capturing your new baby at home creates memories to cherish for a lifetime.
Let's dive into some of the most common questions about newborn photography.
“What should I look for when hiring a newborn photographer?”
It's important to choose a photographer who specialises in newborn photography and has experience working with infants and babies. I have over 4 years of experience working with newborns and their families. I am dedicated to providing a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for you and your baby. I understand the importance of capturing these early moments, and I take pride in creating beautiful, timeless memories that you'll cherish for years to come.
“What can I expect during a newborn photography session?”
During a newborn photography session in your home (or outdoors in the summer), I'll work to create a comfortable and safe space for you and your baby. I am very much a ‘baby and child-led’ photographer, this means we take things at the pace the baby sets. We take breaks for feeding as needed. Toddlers may lose interest quickly and I do not believe in pushing them to participate as more often than not this doesn’t result in the images we want. I let them go off to play and invited them back in for shorter stints in front of the camera.
I am also here to guide you through some light poses. My photography style is all about the natural and authentic moments of connection between you, your baby and your family. If you have any specific poses or props in mind, I'm always happy to incorporate your ideas and preferences into the session.
Capturing newborn photos does not have to be done within the traditional two-week window. Anytime up to 6 or 8 weeks is still absolutely fine! However, I do recommend booking your session as soon as possible during your pregnancy to ensure availability.

“What do I need to do prepare for the shoot?”
Very little is the short answer!
I recommend a quick tidy of the main areas of your home (the living room, main bedroom, nursery) but please don’t stress about this. I am more than happy to move things around/tidy as needed when I am shooting. I am a mum of two, I have no judgement when I come into your home, postpartum is tough!
I have a client wardrobe of dresses and newborn outfits and blankets that I can bring along to your session so you don’t have to stress about styling. I am also here for you from your initial booking, so if you want to send me over wardrobe options for styling guidance and advice, please do! Having a cohesive and well put together style can really bring together your images in a wonderful way.
I usually recommend photographing newborn babies in the morning, as they tend to be more settled then, and it means you have the rest of the day to do the things you want to do.
“How long will the session last?”
I schedule up to 3 hours in my diary for any newborn photoshoots, as its entirely baby dependant. If you have a slightly more fussy baby who’s maybe cluster-feeding or needs more settling, then our session will run longer. If your baby is settled, happy and content on the day of the session, we could be done within an hour or so.
“When will I get my photos?”
After the session, you can expect to receive the final edited photos within 4-6 weeks. I offer a range of packages that include both digital files and prints.
“How much does newborn photography cost?”
My Newborn photography starts at £275 for your base session. This includes your session and editing time, access to my client closet and personalised styling advice and guidance + 5 digital images to download from a private online gallery. There is the option to purchase additional images & prints on gallery delivery. I know this might seem like a significant investment, but keep in mind that newborn photography is a specialised service that requires a lot of time, effort, and equipment. I'm dedicated to providing high-quality images & products that you'll cherish for a lifetime.
